HONORARY CHAIR

Professor Joost Pieter Rey arrived at the Department of Electrical Engineering at UFES at the beginning of the electrical engineering course in the early 1970s. In 1975, he was already supervising students in their final coursework, with studies in electrical systems and also in power electronics, which was beginning to gain strength in the global academic environment. Through his work, he was the mentor of the LEPAC research group, whose origins date back to 1975 but was only made official in 1989, when Prof. Rey had already returned to the Netherlands in 1984. Even from there, he continued to collaborate with the group, co-advising students and promoting student exchanges between Brazil and the Netherlands, receiving our students and sending students from the NHL. By holding COBEP 2025 in Vitória, which is based on the group of professors from LEPAC, it is only fair to give back to everything that Professor Rey sowed with this tribute.
